More about drum circles
Drum
circles are a relaxed event. Anyone is welcome to come and play along,
regardless of their experience with drums or particular rhythms.
Participants can clap along if they have no instrument and there are
none left to borrow. Those who know some rhythms generally lead,
keeping the rhythm steady, and the rest of the circle fills in and
follows the lead. The speed may get faster or slower, especially when a
session is winding down. Melody instruments can play dems/vamps,
following the rhythms with 1-2 notes. Some songs do go well with
certain rhythms, and sheet music is available to borrow for those.
